Sr. DevOps Lead Engineer

SpaceIQ Engineering is a high-performance culture marked by boldness and appetite for productivity. We're looking for a Sr. DevOps Lead Engineer to build our deployment & monitoring infrastructure. You will work in a dynamic environment, integrating multiple scalable, reliable and secure platforms into several products. We are looking for someone who adheres to self-learning and seeks new solutions to be our infra-owner.


THE ROLE:

In this role, you will act as a senior member of the Engineering Platform team, which manages the global AWS environments. You will work as a Subject-Matter Expert on many key projects and initiatives and will have the opportunity to work with some of the latest cloud technologies.


POSITION DETAILS:

  • Support our AWS and other public Cloud environments
  • Build-out our Cloud Management Platform self-service catalog to provide multi-cloud services for our teams
  • Work on multiple projects, operating as the Subject Matter Expert managing the project requirements, scope, and timelines
  • Act as an escalation point for the Operations teams and other IT teams on issues relating to AWS
  • Mentor junior members on the Platform Engineering and Operations teams
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL BE/HAVE:

  • At least 5+ years hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or software engineering
  • Excellent Ruby/Python, bash, and scripting fundamentals
  • Expertise with Cloud AWS architectures
  • Minimum 2 years of Terraform, CloudFormation, Salt, Puppet and/or Ansible experience
  • In-depth knowledge of build/release systems, CI/CD systems, Jenkins
  • Ability to build tools from scratch when needed
  • Proficient at Linux system administration
  • Proficient with deployment and Orchestration technology stack (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, Docker Swarm)
  • Understanding of monitoring tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Kibana (ELK), Jaeger/OpenTracing, Istio, Envoy, and other monitoring technology
  • Experience with modern web services architectures and databases
  • Experience with Git
  • Ability to quickly learn new and existing technologies
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Leadership experience - technical or managerial
  • Strong team player
  • Willingness to take responsibility, accountability and ownership
  • Willingness to work outside of normal working hours to complete mission critical tasks
  • Participation in an on-call rotation
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills

 

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience with database and caching technologies (PostgreSQL, Redis, Casandra, ElasticSearch, etc.)
  • Experience with Kafka, ZooKeeper
